-
WHAT IS YOUR MASKING POLICY?
Masks are not required but I request that if you have been sick or your health status is questionable, you disclose this so that we can wear masks and stay safe!
-
IS THERE A THERAPY DOG IN THE SESSION?
Yes. Appa is the office therapy dog and he sits in on each session. He will greet you when you come in and stay close by during your treatment. He has been known to offer comfort in the case of emotional release.
-
WHAT IF I AM ALLERGIC TO DOGS?
The office has a high quality pet dander filter and upon request, Appa can be left home. If you have allergies, the office can be thoroughly vacuumed and cleaned before your arrival. So far we have had no concerns with clients who are allergic to pet dander.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT YOU DO AND A REGULAR MASSAGE?
The work I do is considered more therapeutic than the average Swedish or deep tissue massage. Our goal is to get you out of pain and decrease your dependence on massage in general. I work protocols and techniques that create results that actually last and that, along with regular movement practices, can assist in the fascial restructuring of the body to resolve chronic movement patterns, tension patterns, and pain and inflammation.
-
DO YOU PRACTICE RELAXATION MASSAGE?
The short answer is yes and no. I do a sincere job of making sure that each and every session supports the nervous system and the transition into parasympathetic balance, but our work is generally more therapeutic to the musculoskeletal system in nature. That being said, sometimes life gets the best of us and the most therapeutic thing at the time will be a session that focuses exclusively on relaxing the nervous system or helping you out of depressive states. We will assess your needs each time your come in to determine what the best treatment will be for you on that day.
-
WHAT STYLE OF MASSAGE DO YOU PRACTICE?
I practice an eclectic style of massage that is structural in nature. It blends elements of cranial structural therapy, myofascial release, and structural energetic therapy to help people get to the root cause of their chronic stress and pain, and feel better from the inside out.
This type of body work is deep and rather than focusing on relaxing the muscles, pays more attention to resolving fascial constriction that causes the muscles to be tight and in pain. It can sometimes be deeper than a normal deep tissue massage but is very respectful of the body, the nervous system, and your pressure threshold to get the most effective therapeutic session.
-
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY SESSION?
I believe that there shouldn’t be extra costs added for the work that you need. That’s why all therapeutic elements are included in your session. This may include aromatherapy, heated stones, kinesiotaping, foot and hand scrubs, warm pillows, and more.
-
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Session recommendation depends on your specific condition. Most often, clients have about 3 sessions as close together as possible depending on time, finances, and lifestyle factors; ideally 1 session no more than to 2 weeks apart and then move to a session every 3-4 weeks until symptoms subside.
-
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
While I do not accept insurance at this time, it is possible to get your session covered by insurance depending on your policy. Connect with your insurance provider to see if they will reimburse you for your sessions.
-
WHAT KIND OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
I accept cash with exact change, debit or credit card, and checks. All major card companies are accepted.
-
CAN I BOOK ONLINE?
You are able to request an appointment online. You can do that by visiting the book now page.
-
DO YOU WORK WITH PREGNANT WOMEN?
Yes! I also work with post-natal mothers to help rebalance the pelvis after childbirth and rebalance the upper body and back pain as a result of breast feeding.
-
HOW DO I CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?

Sessions cancelled within a few hours of your appointment or NO SHOWS are subject to 100% of the cost of the session.
-

There is ample parking for the Piedmont building. There is street parking next to the front door in D street and a large parking lot behind the building with plenty of spaces to park in.
-
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance to give me time to refill your appointment time. If you cancel within 24 hours, you may be subject to pay 50% of your cancelled session before you are able to rebook again. Sessions cancelled within a few hours of your appointment or NO SHOWS are subject to 100% of the cost of the session. You will receive an invoice that can be paid online for a cancelled session. Sometimes, this fee can be waived if you reschedule within a week at the time of cancellation. The cancellation fee will be waived for COVID related cancellations.
-
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY SESSION?
This is entirely up to you. Most clients prefer wearing their underwear and some clients prefer to wear nothing. Some clients prefer to wear all their clothes and some prefer to leave certain parts like just their pants or their shirt on. Either way, you will always be covered by a sheet and a blanket as part of the Mandala Wellness draping policy. Failure to respect the draping policy will result in an immediate ending of your session with full payment.
If you are receiving Thai Massage, you will be fully clothed the entire session. I suggest wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothes that cover your body well, like what you might wear to the gym or to yoga.
-
WHAT DO I DO IF I DON’T FEEL COMFORTABLE DURING MY MASSAGE THERAPY SESSION?
If you don’t feel comfortable during your session, it is your responsibility to let your therapist know. This might include physical discomfort, like if your back hurts or the pressure is too deep or light. This can easily be remedied with the addition of a pillow under the thighs or an adjustment in pressure.
Alternatively, this could involve emotional discomfort at which point we will decide together what feels most appropriate including turning the work into a breath session, or ending the session early.
For the most part, I will be able to notice pressure intensity by listening to the way the muscles respond, noticing if you are getting tense, or monitoring your breathing and I often check in to make sure you are comfortable.
If I don’t notice your discomfort, you are encouraged to communicate to make the treatment as effective as possible. Please note that these services are therapeutic in nature and no intention from the therapist or client should be sexual.
If I perceive that your intentions are turning inappropriate, the session will be immediately ended and you will not be welcome to rebook.
-
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY FIRST SESSION?
A New Client Session is 75 minutes long and costs $125. During your first session, you will complete your intake form either online to save time or in person. We will use it as a template to discuss your goals and options for treatment in a thorough intake conversation.
Depending on your therapeutic goals, we will either do a full body session where we will see how your tissue responds to the work or dive right in to our therapeutic protocols. After our intake, I will walk you through the pathway of the session so that nothing is a surprise and show you the tools we might use for your session and get your consent on the treatment before we begin. Then, I will leave the room to wash my hands while you disrobe to your comfort level and get on the table. You will be draped in a sheet and a blanket the entire time and I will only expose what part of your body is being massaged at any give time. At the end of the session, I will leave the room while you get dressed and when you feel ready, you will receive a glass of water and we will chat about how you feel and talk about anything that stood out to you. We will cover recommendations, suggestions for further treatment, and then payment.
